Dear  Blue,

Shiny new shoes, sharpened pencils and fresh lunchboxes that are yet to take on a weird orange tinge from frequent dishwashing- it can only mean one thing, back to school time!

It’s that magical month when autumn is poking its head around the corner, and the new academic year begins, full of possibility and opportunity.

Now is the perfect time for teachers and schools across Wales to check out the events calendar on the Creative Learning Zone and start planning high quality arts experiences across the coming months. Don’t forget that schools can apply for up for £1000 to cover the cost of tickets and transport from our Go & See fund.

If you are an arts organisation and have an event coming up that you would like added to the Creative Learning Zone calendar then do get in touch with your local Regional Arts and Education Network to talk through your offering.

The Creative Collaborations deadline is upon us, the closing date is September 25th. Remember- the clue is in the title, Creative Collaborations is about true partnership working between schools and arts organisations to create innovative, bespoke activity that goes one step further. You can apply for between £5-25k to help you achieve this. This is where the  Regional Arts and Education Networks comes in handy once again- check out your Network’s website and get in touch for ideas of arts organisations/schools in your area that could be potential collaborators.

To get inspired about the potential of the Experiencing the Arts fund, please check out our brand new film and do share it far and wide!

Lead Creative Schools

We have flipcharts and boxes of biros at the ready…. Lead Creative School Teacher and Coordinator training will commence this month! Our Regional Teams are excited to meet you all, and we look forward to sharing Lead Creative School updates with as the year unfolds.

In the news

Creative learning through the arts is on the lookout for companies to produce our 2016-17 annual report. We have the stats, archive footage and photos- and want you to turn this into a report that captures the ambitious essence of our programme and lays out the journey of the last year in an innovative way. We are open to your creative thoughts on what form this might take. As a guide think of this report being held in a digital space, utilising our archive material and impressive statics - in addition to you going out and capturing the voices of our stakeholder through film/ sound.

The deadline for questions to creative.learning@arts.wales is 4pm Wednesday 13th.

The deadline for tenders to tenders@arts.wales is midnight 20th September.
