iPhone Shipments: Ahead of the release of Apple's hotly anticipated iPhone 8 model came news from Strategy Analytics that the company has shipped 1.2 billion iPhones globally over the past decade. Along with hitting the vaunted "three commas" status in terms of shipments, the iPhone has also generated a cumulative $760.4 billion in revenues for Apple.

Brands Go Programmatic: Procter & Gamble exec Marc Pritchard roiled the marketing and media industries earlier this year by raising questions about the efficacy of digital ads. But new research from L2 found that 80% of consumer packaged goods brands bought display ads through programmatic means, a sign that Pritchard's warning might be falling on deaf ears. L2 also reported that ecommerce sites may be siphoning off digital ad spending; 62% of brands it examined placed display ads on either Amazon or Walmart.
