The proud 2015 graduates of the prestigious MFA Musical Theatre Writing Program at New York University unveil the fruits of their two years-long labor in this showcase. These talented Tisch School of the Arts grad students managed to create 18 all-new musicals as part of their thesis studies, and are set to debut some of their showstopping tunes in a show hosted by alumna Polly Pen, an Obie Award winner for the score of Bed and Sofa, which also happened to pull in seven Drama Desk nominations.

A journalist’s latest assignment involves following a father-son team of paranormal investigators to rural Virginia, where she spends a tense night with them outside of an allegedly haunted barn, waiting for spirits to appear. But as the evening progresses, things take an even spookier turn. John Doman (Gotham, Rizzoli & Isles, The Wire) leads the cast in this off-Broadway premiere from Second Stage at the McGinn Cazale Theatre. The Other Thing is the latest work from writer Emily Schwend, whose play Take Me Back was a New York Times Critics’ Pick in 2014.
